Save the date for the EuroGOOS International Conference 2026

May 30, 2024

The European Global Ocean Observing System (EuroGOOS) promotes, since 1994, the development of Operational Oceanography in Europe as the component of the Global Ocean Observing System of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO (IOC GOOS).

Every three years the EuroGOOS conference provides a forum for marine scientists and technologists developing operational oceanography products, and the users of these services including decision and policy-makers as well as the private sector.

The EuroGOOS conference offers an opportunity to discuss how well our ocean monitoring and forecasting are supporting societal and policy needs. The event facilitates dialogue among a broad range of ocean observing and forecasting stakeholders, towards a fit-for-purpose ocean information delivery.

Next year marks a significant period for Cyprus, with several major national and international initiatives taking place. Notably, Cyprus will host the European Maritime Day, a key event that highlights the importance of sustainable maritime sectors across Europe. Additionally, the country will assume the Presidency of the Council of the European Union for the second time, positioning it at the heart of European policymaking. In this dynamic context, our International Conference will be held in Larnaca from 18 to 20 May 2026, providing an excellent opportunity to engage with these developments and strengthen regional and international cooperation in ocean observing and marine science. Stay tuned for updates as we share more news and opportunities to get involved in this landmark year.
